We toasted the champs with a tremendous mountain cab

Celebrating 2012 with a 2009

As our readers know, we are HUGE SF Giants fans. So for us this October has been very special. Lots of wine was needed to get through the “torture” of coming back not once but twice against two very good teams and then taking on a very tough Tiger team. Although we poured the Craig Spring Mountain for our celebration dinner, honorable mention must be given to Rodney Strong for the Giants victory. We had a Rodney Strong Reserve Pinot for dinner the night the Giants came back to take game 4 from St. Louis. Being superstistious baseball nuts, we proceeded to drink a different Rodney Strong during each game thereafter. We think the Giants should send a ring to them for their contribution!

2009 was not a great year for the Giants in terms of the standings but several very important things happened that set the stage for 2010 and 2012. In 2009, Tim Lincecum won his second Cy Young, Buster Posey and Madison Bumgarner debuted with the team and the 2009 draft netted a certain Baby Giraffe – Brandon Belt. All played huge roles in 2012. Because of that we chose the Robert Craig 2009 Spring Mountain Cabernet for our winna winna steak dinna. This new release is a fantastic example of the magic Spring Mountain brings. Dark plum, mountain berry, currant and hints of earthy spice are the hallmarks of this great Cab. Complex and very age worthy with a refined mouthfeel. We’ll do a full review down the road but we couldn’t have picked a better wine to drink in the World Champs!
